Baby born in Sussex farmyard driveway

A mother gave birth at the side of the road after failing to make it to a maternity unit in East Sussex.

Maternity services in Natasha Mills's home town of Eastbourne were downgraded earlier this year, meaning some mothers have to travel to Hastings, 17 miles away.

Stephen Lloyd, Lib Dem MP for Eastbourne, said baby Oscar's birth could have been a catastrophe.

East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust said it was sorry Miss Mills experienced the trauma of having her baby en-route to hospital.
