Newhaven: Video shows RNLI paraglider rescue

The RNLI has released footage of a paraglider being rescued by volunteers in icy waters just minutes from death.

Dermot Ryan was losing consciousness in the sea off Newhaven, East Sussex, on Christmas Eve 2021.

The RNLI crew scrambled Mr Ryan on board to safety.

Mr Ryan said: "If the lifeboat crew hadn't been there I wouldn't be here today. They are absolute heroes."
