Bertie the bolt: Durham's record breaking tortoise
Bertie, a South African Leopard tortoise, from County Durham has sped his way into the record books by travelling 0.28 metres per second (0.6mph) - the greatest speed achieved by one of his kind.
Bertie, covered 18ft (5.48m) in 19.59 seconds at Adventure Valley, in July last year - smashing the previous best of 43.7 seconds, which stood since 1977.
The Usain Bolt of the tortoise world, who can travel twice as fast as the average tortoise, will now feature in the 2016 Guinness Book of Records.
