Redcar steelworks: Could the abandoned site become a park?

A year since the closure of SSI in Redcar, Inside Out explores what the abandoned site could be used for.

In Germany, when a blast furnace closed in the mid 1980s, the government handed it over to the public and it became Landschaftspark.

Instead of demolishing the steel structures, they are now used for scuba diving, music festivals and a high ropes course - preserving the site's industrial heritage.

But could Redcar follow the German's lead?

Inside Out is on BBC1 at 19:30 BST.
