Pen-pal girls who bonded through cancer treatment are reunited

An American girl has been reunited with the pen-pal who helped her through her cancer treatment after meeting on holiday two years ago.

Leilani, aged nine, and Ava aged eight, met in Florida when Leilani was being treated for cancer.

The girls then sent letters and pictures to each other, which Leilani said was "really good" in helping her through her treatment.

Now the girls have been reunited at Ava's home in Newcastle and say they are going to be "best friends forever".
