Meningitis survivor Tilly Lockey helps to pioneer bionic limbs
A girl from County Durham who lost both her hands to meningitis as a baby is helping to pioneer state of the art bionic limbs.
Tilly Lockey is involved in a trial of a prototype robotic arm which is hoped could lead to a new generation of artificial limbs.
The 11-year-old from Consett needed 10 blood transfusions after contracting meningococcal septicaemia when she was 15 months old.
She said she likes that people think her new robotic arm is "cool".
