The great Sunderland raccoon escape

A month after escaping, Meeko the raccoon is still on the loose - but the search is narrowing.

The saga began at Sunderland Training and Education Farm at Christmas.

The raccoons had their breakfast and all was well, but as nightfall came, reports trickled in of a raccoon sighting in the area.

The team rushed back to discover the door to the raccoon enclosure was wide open, and the three creatures gone.

For a month they wandered the wilderness of Wearside, until Rocket and Pinch were caught at the end of January.

And, as their breeding season approaches, it's hoped Meeko will finally be found.
