Public sector workers strike in Northern Ireland

Thousands of health and education workers in Northern Ireland have joined a 24-hour strike in protest at budget cuts.

The strike, called by the Unison union, affects all health workers except doctors, with many schools also taking part.

The Department of Health said that 2,400 appointments or procedures have been cancelled because of the action.
