Queen and Duke of Edinburgh welcome Irish President to Windsor Castle
The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh have met Irish President Michael D Higgins and his wife Sabina at the start of the first official state visit by an Irish head of state.
The Irish national anthem was played and cannons fired as part of a ceremonial welcome for President Higgins at Windsor Castle.
His trip comes after the Queen became the first British monarch to visit the Republic of Ireland three years ago.
