Labour MP Douglas Alexander on housing benefit 'truths'
MPs are debating a plan to cap housing benefit payments, amid claims it will force many people out of their homes.
Ministers are proposing a £400-a-week limit for the largest homes or £250-a-week for one-bedroom flats as a curb on an "out of control" benefits bill.
Labour say the plans risk uprooting families and making people homeless.
Douglas Alexander, Shadow work and pensions secretary, expressed his concern that the affects of the reforms would stretch wider than portrayed in the media.
