Lord Baker recalls National Curriculum reform 'milestone'

For 22 years children in England have had one set of subjects since the National Curriculum was brought in by then Education Secretary Lord Baker in the 1980s.

Wales and Northern Ireland also did, until devolution. The curriculum was part of the Thatcher administration's Great Education Reform Bill, or Gerbil, as it was known.

Lord Baker recalled the freedom he had to implement the change as he spoke to Giles Dilnot.

This is part of a series of interviews, entitled Change Makers, in which the Daily Politics talks to people who have radically changed Britain.
