Police Federation vice chairman Simon Reed on pay changes

Police Federation vice chairman Simon Reed said a suggested 20 per cent cut to police numbers was unprecedented and the service was being singled out for "devastating" pay changes in the public sector.

An independent review of police pay and conditions in England and Wales has called for the abolition of a series of allowances and special payments. Tom Winsor's report recommends making savings of £60m a year in overtime.
