Britain's role in UN resolution
The Libyan government declared a ceasefire in response to Thursday night's UN resolution authorising a no-fly zone and air strikes on Gaddafi's forces.
Libya's Foreign Minister went on national television to say that all military operations would end with immediate effect.
President Obama said Colonel Gadaffi had to stop all attacks and pull back his troops from rebel-held towns and cities.
The UN resolution is designed to protect civilians and all civilian populated areas.
