Anne Begg MP on the fall in benefit claimants

Anne Begg, Aberdeen MP and chair of the Work and Pensions Select Committee, tries to explain why some of her constituents may have withdrawn their benefit applications. The city was one of the trial areas with more stringent tests.

New figures show three-quarters of applicants for sickness benefit were found to be fit for work or dropped their claims before they were completed.

Former deputy prime minister Michael Heseltine also recalls the previous Tory government policy over sickness and unemployment benefits.
