Baroness Jolly and Lord McConnell on pound a day scheme

Baroness Jolly and Lord McConnell explained why they - and other lords and ladies - have been taking part in the Live Below the Line pound-a-day challenge to raise money and awareness of the project.

The body says a quarter of the world's population lives on less than £1 a day and the politicians are helping to highlight the cause, as the guests criticised the amount of food thrown away in the UK. But journalist Simon Jenkins dismissed the plan as a gimmick.
