Falkland Islands: Argentina renews Las Malvinas claim

Dick Sawle, a member of the Legislative Assembly of the Falkland Islands, claimed the disputed territory is better defended than in 1982.

He spoke after watching the Argentine President speak about what her nation calls Las Malvinas. David Cameron has reiterated the UK position that the islands' sovereignty is non-negotiable.

But defence cuts have raised the issue of whether the UK could defend the islands if the Argentines began a new invasion - some 30 years after the Falklands Conflict. MPs Hilary Benn and Nick Herbert gave their views.
