Yates 'regrets' not reopening hacking investigation in 2009
The Assistant Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, John Yates, has said he regrets his decision not to reopen an investigation into the phone hacking scandal in 2009.
Giving evidence to the Home Affairs Select Committee, he apologised for the failings of his review of the investigation, saying "had I known in July 2009 what I now know, I would have made different decisions".
