Rupert Murdoch on News of the World closure

Rupert Murdoch said the phone hacking at the News of the World broke its trust with readers and said of its closure: "We felt ashamed of what had happened and thought we would bring it to a close."

He was being questioned at the Commons select committee by Labour MP Tom Watson who claimed the jobs of 200 people had been risked to save others.
