Brooks on 'legitimate' use of private investigators

Former chief executive of News International Rebekah Brooks has told a committee of MPs her use of private investigators while at the News of The World was "purely legitimate".

While giving evidence on the phone hacking row, she said her contact with private investigators was mostly to do with tracking convicted paeodophiles for the "Sarah's Law" campaign.

But she added that she suspected the paper "also used private investigators for other stories".
