Politician John Mann says MPs are treated with 'contempt'

Labour MP John Mann had said Parliament needs to get its act together and that he understands why the public treat MPs with contempt.

He criticised the "whinging" in Parliament about the new expenses system, but said MPs should be fighting more for the people.

The results of a survey by the Committee on Standards in Public Life suggest that public confidence in MPs had fallen steeply between 2008 and 2010.
