Cable: Britain facing economic equivalent of war

The Business Secretary Vince Cable has told delegates at the Liberal Democrat conference that Britain is facing a crisis that is the economic equivalent of war.

Mr Cable also said top pay must be transparent and he wants an end to "payouts for failure".

He vowed to tackle "the escalation of executive pay" which he said was often not linked to share values.
