Ed Miliband on EU veto: David Cameron 'let Britain down'

David Cameron has been defending his decision to use his veto during last week's European summit in Brussels, telling MPs there were not enough safeguards to protect the UK's interests.

However Labour leader Ed Miliband said that by vetoing the treaty, the prime minister had ''let Britain down''.

He added that Mr Cameron could not even persuade Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, who was absent, that not signing the treaty was a good outcome.
