David Cameron will not block RBS boss bonus
The Prime Minister warned that installing a new top team at the Royal Bank of Scotland could be even "more expensive" than it is now.
He made the comments amid growing pressure on Number 10 to block the nearly one million pound bonus for the bank's chief executive, Stephen Hester.
David Cameron insisted it was up to Mr Hester to decide whether to give up his £963,000 bonus.
Mr Cameron was speaking at Chequers as news emerged that RBS chairman Sir Philip Hampton had decided to forgo his £1.4m shares reward.
