Theresa May 'must apologise over Abu Qatada error'
Radical cleric Abu Qatada has lost his attempt to make a final appeal to the European Court of Human Rights against his deportation from the UK.
The decision is a victory for the government's deportation strategy, even though Home Office officials got the date of the appeal deadline wrong.
Shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper welcomed the news that Abu Qatada lost his attempt to make an appeal.
"We all want him deported as soon as possible," she said.
But she added that Home Secretary Theresa May should apologise because she had got the date of the appeal deadline wrong.
