Tory conference: Boris Johnson on mayor, MP and PM jobs

The mayor of London said he would not stand for Parliament again before his term of office ended in 2016, but declined to speculate after that.

When asked if it was a 'categorical no' on standing for MP before 2016, Boris Johnson said: 'It is and I have said that before... I have a wonderful job to do and I want to do it."

He spoke to Andrew Neil about his relationship with the prime minister, an EU referendum and repatriation of powers to Westminster, tax rates, banking regulation, international aid spending, Andrew Mitchell's comments and the chances of the American-born Mr Johnson running for US president.

The mayor also revealed what gift he was sending to the prime minister for his birthday.
