Nick Clegg: 'No' to £10bn of welfare cuts

The deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg, has said he wants to "knock on the head" the idea that £10bn can be cut from the welfare budget.

Mr Clegg was speaking at a question and answer session with members of the public in Sheffield.

A £16bn package of cuts has been discussed by the coalition government.

Mr Clegg acknowledged savings could be made, but said the £10bn figure from welfare alone had not been agreed.
