Gay marriage: David Cameron backs church role
Legislation to allow marriage for same-sex couples will also allow churches in England and Wales to conduct ceremonies, David Cameron has said.
He said he did not want gay people to be "excluded from a great institution", but he would not force religious groups to carry out the ceremonies.
Ministers will reveal their response to a consultation next week. MPs will be given a free vote on the move.
