UKIP leader Nigel Farage on HS2, Romania and Bulgaria

The UK Independence Party leader claimed he was "pretty odd" when compared to David Cameron and Ed Miliband, and unlike them he spent "spent 20 years having a job".

Nigel Farage said his party was against the HS2 high speed rail project, and did not just want to talk about Europe, but it was "irresponsible and wrong" to open the British borders to Romania and Bulgaria from next year.

Conservative MP Cheryl Gillan said she took UKIP seriously but accused its leader of "playing to the gallery" as she debated with Labour's Tessa Jowell and Liberal Democrat Sir Menzies Campbell.
