House of Cards's FU from Ian Richardson to Kevin Spacey

The US re-make of the British 1990 political drama House of Cards is "much darker" than the original, said writer Michael Dobbs.

He said the Americans had "poured so much money into it" with their 13-hour version of the series starring Kevin Spacey, which was "true to the spirit" of the BBC version with Iain Richardson in the lead role.

Now Baron Dobbs of Wylye, he described the Netflix version as "The West Wing for werewolves... it will keep people awake at night".

He spoke to Jo Coburn about US and UK politics after they watched clips of the original and remake.
