PMQs: Cameron on horsemeat prosecutions and meat checks

The horsemeat scandal is "appalling" and "completely unacceptable", the prime minister told the House of Commons as he backed calls for prosecutions.

David Cameron said a tougher inspection regime had been agreed, while schools and prisons were doing their own checks.

He was answering Democratic Unionist William McCrea who said the meat revelations threatened "confidence in the safety of the food we eat" as he called for criminal prosecutions.
