Leveson: Hugh Grant on Cameron and press Royal Charter

Hacked Off campaigner Hugh Grant admitted he flounders in the details of a plan for the Leveson proposals for press regulation to go before MPs for a vote.

The actor said Labour and Lib Dems have been "staunch and marvellous", but David Cameron's promises have "simply been completely been ignored and that's been a disgraceful position".

He said the Conservative-backed Royal Charter was "not ideal" and "pretty meaningless" in the way it has been drafted.

Asked about his role in the campaign, Grant said he was due to go off and make a film in three weeks and was so involved in Leveson he forgot the name of his character.
