Jack Straw: 'Sorry to see David Miliband go'

The Labour Party would "welcome" David Miliband back into politics, his former colleague cabinet Jack Straw has said, after it was revealed that the former foreign secretary is to resign as an MP.

Mr Miliband, 47, is to leave his South Shields constituency to take up a role in New York, as chief executive of the International Rescue Committee.

Mr Straw told The World Tonight that he thought the Labour leader and Mr Miliband's younger brother, Ed, would be both "relieved" that David's position had been resolved and "sorry to see such a talent leave".
