Local Government Association on council funding and cuts

Councils are better at collecting taxes than central government, the vice chair of the Local Government Association has said.

Dudley Council leader David Sparks predicated a £16.5bn funding gap for English councils by 2020 and that some were "verging on not being viable", when he was asked about councils keeping large reserves.
