Keith Vaz: MPs ignorant of GCHQ spy claims

The chairman of the Home Affairs Select Committee, Keith Vaz, is demanding a full explanation from the Home Secretary over allegations that the British intelligence centre, GCHQ, has been spying on people's internet use.

Labour's Keith Vaz said he had serious concerns that the revelations could involve the data of thousands of British citizens.

According to The Guardian, GCHQ had access to data covertly gathered from leading internet firms in the US.

GCHQ said it operated within a "strict legal and policy framework".
