PMQs: Cameron and Miliband on unemployment figures

The prime minister said Britain was "turning a corner" but admitted the government has "still got a long way to go" on unemployment figures.

David Cameron said the jobless figures were lower than at the 2010 general election, and the number of new private sector jobs was up.

But Ed Miliband accused the government of "complacency" and "hubris", before listing areas of the UK where unemployment was rising, and said average wages had fallen by £1,500 a year.

Figures out on Wednesday showed the UK unemployment rate dropped to 7.7% between May and July, from 7.8% in the previous three months.
