Labour energy plan blackout claims 'absurd'

Labour's business spokesman Chuka Umunna has told BBC Newsnight that it is "patently absurd" to suggest that the lights might go out if a plan to freeze energy prices for every home and business for 20 months if Labour wins the 2015 election is implemented.

Britain's biggest energy firms have rejected Labour leader Ed Miliband's plan, with the chairman of British Gas owner Centrica saying that Labour's plan could potentially cause "economic ruin" for energy firms.
