John Baron MP on government army and reservists plan
A Tory MP and former solider has called on the defence secretary to pause with his plans to offset cuts of 20,000 to regular troops by expanding the Army Reserve to 30,000.
John Baron told Jo Coburn on BBC2's Daily Politics that "so many things are going wrong with it". And he said there was "no shortage of scare stories" about his amendment, claiming they were "all untrue".
More than 20 Conservative MPs have signed an amendment to a coalition defence bill, aimed at delaying the plan until its further impact has been discussed, and Labour is planning to support the amendment.
