EU Referendum Bill 'badly drafted' says Lord Foulkes

The EU Referendum Bill has been "very badly drafted, which is totally inadequate" said a Labour peer, who complained about an artificial timetable.

Lord Foulkes said he was not against the principle of a referendum but Tory MP James Wharton's private member's bill faces 70 amendments when it goes to the House of Lords on Friday.

Louise Stewart spoke to the peer on the Daily Politics ahead of the debate on the bill authorising a referendum, which has been approved by MPs, but needs approval from the House of Lords before the end of the current session in April to become law.
