Lawrence murder: Undercover squad was 'out of control'

Police Minister Damian Green has said Scotland Yard's Special Demonstration Squad was "out of control" and "outside the rules" in relation to the Stephen Lawrence murder investigation.

Home Secretary Theresa May has announced a judge-led public inquiry into the work of covert police and the top-secret unit, in response to a damning review of the original policing of the case.

Mr Green told BBC Newsnight's Kirsty Wark there were historical problems with the work of the Special Demonstration Squad.
