Ukraine 'prepared and ready' to fight, says ambassador

Ukraine's ambassador to the UK, Volodymyr Khandogiy, has said Ukraine is prepared to use any necessary means to fight Russian aggression but all diplomatic steps must be taken to avoid conflict.

Mr Khandogiy told Andrew Marr Ukraine would be prepared to fight if Russian forces entered the country's eastern territory and it would look for international assistance including the supply of non-lethal equipment.

The ambassador also said the two sides must "exhaust all possible diplomatic steps" including further sanctions on Russia in order to give peace a chance.
