Cameron and Miliband on Pfizer bid for AstraZeneca

David Cameron said the government was "fighting for British science" as he accused the Labour leader of playing politics instead of backing the national interest.

Ed Miliband claimed the Pfizer bid for AstraZeneca would affect British jobs, investment, exports and science and he called for a "proper assessment of this bid".

The prime minister hit back by saying Britain "benefits massively from being open to investment" as he listed a series of UK business successes, before Mr Miliband again pressed him to rule in, or out, a public interest test on the proposed takeover.
