Tony Blair: 'UKIP do not hold the answers'

The rationale for a more together Europe is stronger today than it has ever been, Tony Blair has said.

The former prime minister told the Today programme's James Naughtie that the UK will succeed by being "outward-looking and open-minded", and that Labour must not follow UKIP's policies in the hope of regaining lost voters.

He added that European leaders must confront and expose parties like UKIP, who he said do not hold the answers to 21st century problems.

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Tuesday 27 May.
