Michael Gove on Birmingham school inquiry

Education Secretary Michael Gove has defended his decision to appoint a former counter-terror chief to examine allegations of Islamic extremism in Birmingham schools.

Peter Clarke is heading an inquiry into a hard-line Islamist plot to infiltrate 25 schools in the city.

Mr Gove told the Andrew Marr Show it was important "to draw a distinction between deep religious faith, the conservative expression of that religious faith, and extremism".
