Norman Smith: Immigration plans about message not money
David Cameron has set out a number of changes designed to ensure that EU migrants in the UK are not taking advantage of the benefits on offer.
Changes include cutting the length of time people from other EU countries can claim a series of benefits in the UK from six months to three months if they cannot show they have a "realistic chance" of finding a job.
No figures have been released on how many people would be hit by these changes and, as the BBC News Channel's chief political correspondent Norman Smith says, the announcement is more about "sending a message than saving money".
