PMQs: Clacton by-election birthday present for Cameron
Labour's Karl Turner joked that the Clacton by-election was being held on David Cameron's birthday and asked how many other surprises were expected from his backbenchers.
In the first moment of humour during a sombre Pumas, Mr Cameron reckoned he did not want to know about what was in store for him, but he was expecting "all sorts of pleasant surprises".
The Essex by-election was triggered by the decision of Tory MP Douglas Carswell to stand down from Parliament, and contest the seat for UKIP.
