Cameron on spending cuts and tax free allowances
The Conservatives would raise the tax free personal allowance from £10,500 to £12,500, David Cameron told his party conference.
He said three million people were already being taken out of paying tax, with another one million joining them under this measure.
The prime minister pledged to balance books by 2018, but said it would need £25bn in savings that would be achieved through spending cuts over two years. He said it was "a lot of money, but it is do-able".
