Government cuts: 'Sense of panic at the Treasury' - Labour

Shadow Chancellor Chris Leslie has accused George Osborne of hiding the detail of Conservative plans to cut a further £4.5bn from government spending this year.

Mr Leslie also said the chancellor was "ripping up" his own plan set out in the March budget.

"What I think is worrying is if you end up with a budget that sets out a course of public services and then, within the same financial year, you end up veering off in a kind of salami-sliced way, rather than properly thinking through what are the reforms we need to public services", he said.
