Labour leadership: Corbyn on austerity and poverty
The new Labour leader claimed the Conservatives had used the 2008 economic crisis to impose a "terrible burden" on the poorest people in Britain.
Minutes after winning the leadership contest, Jeremy Corbyn spoke of addressing "grotesque levels of inequality within our society".
He pledged the party would "reach out to everyone in this country" and he wanted Labour to be "more inclusive, more involved, more democratic".
As he closed his speech at a special conference, Mr Corbyn said: "We don't have to be unequal. It does not have to be unfair, poverty isn't inevitable. Things can, and they will change."
