Conservative MP Owen Paterson facing Commons suspension for rule breach

A Tory MP said it was "absolutely ridiculous" that he could face suspension from Parliament for 30 days.

Asked by BBC political editor Laura Kuenssberg about his actions, Owen Paterson said he had declared an interest and he "stuck within the rules".

The North Shropshire MP could be suspended from the Commons for 30 days after the watchdog found he had "repeatedly" used his position as an MP to benefit two companies who paid him as a consultant.
