Scottish independence: Warships built on the Clyde if it 'stays in UK'

Scottish Secretary Alistair Carmichael has said the contract for the Type 26 frigates coming to Scotland could be swayed by the result of the independence referendum.

"The business case stacks up for as long as the Clyde is part of the United Kingdom," he told BBC News.

"What you have got here is job security and job sustainability because we are part of the United Kingdom".

BAE Systems announced the loss of 1,800 jobs at its sites in Govan, Scotstoun, Rosyth, Portsmouth and Filton.
